Born with teeth!

Our youngest Triplet, Amity, was born with two bottom teeth. I was quite shocked by this news as all our other children only got their teeth at around 7 or 8 months. The doctor informed us that they were actually a third set called 'Neonatal teeth', and that they would fall out and she would continue to get her baby teeth then on to her adult ones as normal. They were basically in a little bubble and even though they mentioned removing them before we left hospital, they decided to leave them saying they would fall out soon as they weren't embedded into the gums very much.
Believing the doctors knew what was best, we accepted this and soon forgot about her two little extra additions. The little bubble of skin they were hiding in soon gave way when she started to suck though, and as they were a bit wobbly I was worried they would come out and she might choke. By the time we left hospital, (the bubs were in for three weeks), I didn't give too much more thought about her teeth, until Holly and Skye got their first ones. Amity's still hadn't come out and they felt like they were actually stuck in her gums tighter! A month later (at about 10mths) they got there top teeth as well, and poor Amity still hadn't lost hers. A trip to the dentist showed that there were indeed teeth underneath waiting to push through, but her two were in pretty tight and didn't seem like they were going to budge. They reccommended removing them under general anethsetic, or I could start trying to wiggle them myself! I wasn't too fussed on either options and think back to when she was born and how much easier it would have been to remove them then! So now we are waiting until after her first birthday to proceed!

Surviving the first year!

My husband, Troy and I have nearly survived the first year with our triplets!! What an accomplishment that will be!! The girls first birthday is next Friday!! It will certainly be a bit different to the normal birthdays we have had, our other children, Jazmin-9yrs, Summer-5yrs and River-4yrs have always enjoyed their special days. Now having three children sharing a birthday produces more challenges. Keeping their individuallity is something we are obviously new at and continue to learn about. One cake or three?? When does it become most important to not bundle them all in one group? Should we be starting that now? They aren't really going to remember their first birthday after all.
All our other kids were walking by one year old, it is hard not to compare. But I certainly love watching them all develop thier own personallities, and what a great age! Amity is the smallest triplet, but has crawled first and is now standing up. Holly and Skye, (our identicals) are still comando crawling around, but Holly has started to pull herself up on the furniture. I am sure Skye will not be too far behind her. People always say I have my hands full! Wait till their running around, then you'll know what busy is!! Yes this is true, parenting is a demading job, but I wouldn't change it for the world. We may not get holidays or sick days but I think it is way more rewarding that anything that other jobs could bring. You have to deal with what life throws your way, and well this is what we were dealt. Even though the first few months were a bit hazy and I wondered what I did to deserve this! Everyone was saying how lucky I was! Well I didn't think so, I wanted one little baby, to breastfeed and snuggle up with. Not three at once, trying to get them fed and back to bed and grab an hours sleep before their next feed would be due!! It was rather rediculous!! I never thought we would make it to their first birthday!(not sanely anyway) But only a week to go.....
